Excerpt from Prayer in Action by Jyoti

As some of our grandmothers say, “carrying a prayer for peace is very difficult in this day and time because that which does not want peace will confront it. But we are not here to fight for peace; we are here to be peace. We must embrace that which challenges us and pray for those who are not at peace. If we can hold peace without needing to explain it, if we can forgive the history and the story of that which brought it, if we can keep our focus on the prayer for unity, then another place on the wounded tree of life can heal. If we can stay rooted in our commitment to peace, then the prayer will continue to move on.”
